Dark Horse and Nintendo have announced that The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts was the number one book sold in the United States for the week ending February 26th, 2017. This burgundy colored book follows on the success of 2013’s green covered The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia, the sales of which ended up being a game-changer for Dark Horse’s presence on the book market.
At over 400 pages of artwork, interviews, and design information, the book brought fans up to date on the art of the Zelda games even including material from the upcoming release, Breath of the Wild.
The book will likely keep a steady pace in the upper reaches of book sales for some time, especially given the new game’s arrival on March 3rd. It follows a trend of success with video game artbooks. Dynamite Entertainment published an Art of Atari as a first venture into this realm, and it performed so well that a poster book is now following it in publication.
