This May, Archie Comics are kicking off a three issue event called “Over the Edge” which predicts that Archie and his friends will face “mortal danger” and the publisher is also calling this a “game-changing event” for the comic series.

The three issue event will start with Archie #20 and be written by Mark Waid and drawn by Pete Woods.
Archie Comics seem to be suggesting that this event is on par with the Death of Archie storyline and say that it’s a “culmination of years of risk-taking stories and promises to change the lives of Riverdale’s core characters dramatically”.
Series writer Mark Waid even goes so far as to say: “Suddenly, in one horrifying instant, that all changes when one of the kids looks death in the eye–and death doesn’t blink.”
Archie Comics says that in this three part event:
Archie Andrews’ and Reggie Mantle’s ongoing feud pits the two against each other in a thrill ride on the dangerous Dead Man’s Curve. In June, a life-changing phone call will leave Riverdale’s citizens in shock and readers on their toes in ARCHIE #21.

This does, in fact, sound like death is coming to Riverdale, as the publisher teases that the “end comes for one of Riverdale’s most beloved residents – while setting the stage for years of new and undiscovered destinies for the entire cast”.
So, you’ve been warned. Brace yourself for actions with consequences in “Over the Edge”.
Archie #20 will arrive May 17th. Archie #21 will arrive on June 21st.
