Black Mask Studios have made a lot of people very happy by bringing back Space Riders. Folks who follow the social media accounts of writer Fabian Rangel, Jr. or artist Alexis Ziritt may have suspected this was on the way for some time, but now the wait is over. It’ll be in shops next Wednesday, March 29th.
Space Riders was a mega-smash-hit for Black Mask when it was released in 2015 and exclusives and related ephemera for the series was also in high demand. The art style on this book goes beyond indie to subversive, underground, and even retro subversive and underground, while maintaining a very modern energy and verve. The book is also designed and lettered by Ryan Ferrier, completing that total aesthetic feel. Black Mask are calling the series “beautiful madness” in their press release for the new series, and that’s very apt.
The new arc will be called “Galaxy of Brutality“. Clearly they are dialing things back on this series, no?
Judge for yourself. Here’s the description of what’s coming up:
An ancient evil is gathering power throughout the cosmos, and it falls upon the legendary SPACE RIDERS to kick its ass! Having disbanded, the crew of CAPITAN PELIGRO, MONO, and YARA must reunite for what may be their final ride! The cult comic that electrified comic readers in the brain RETURNS to blast your fragile human psyche into oblivion!!
Clearly they are taking a calm and measured approach this time around, right?
Here’s a preview of the “beautiful madness” to sink your teeth into:
Look out for Space Riders: Galaxy of Brutality #1 March 29th. It’s not something to miss out on.
