Francesco Francavilla’s The Black Beetle Returns To Fight Nazis In September

If you’re a reader of Dark Horse Presents (#28-32), you have been aware of the renewed exploits of The Black Beetle, a character created to great acclaim by Francesco Francavilla back in 2012. The new five part story, serialized in the anthology, is going to be collected by Dark Horse and published as a book, The Black Beetle: Kara Böcek.

Francavilla’s Black Beetle mythology builds on noir traditions, film posters, detective fiction, and all kinds of cultural influences in between, and the results, presented in Francavilla’s signature painted style, are simply gorgeous.

Described as “superhero noir”, this story follows our hero into the Middle East as travels under a pseudonym to fight Nazis and a mysterious magical object. This new weapon is older than the pyramids and could exalt the Third Reich if it falls into their hands.

The Black Beetle: Kara Böcek will arrive in shops on September 6th, 2017.
