VIZ Media is adding another original novel to its catalogue of novels which expand on the world of Tokyo Ghoul. This new work, Tokyo Ghoul: Past, will arrive in shops on April 18th.
This is the third release in an ongoing series of novels from Viz, each focusing on a lead character from the popular manga series by Sui Ishida. Tokyo Ghoul: Past is written by Shin Towada and will be available both in print and digitally via VIZ.com/read, the VIZ Manga App, and worldwide through Nook, Kobo, Kindle, iBooks, comiXology, and Google Play.
Tokyo Ghoul: Past will be set “before the steel frame incident in the 20th Ward” when there were already “reports of Ghouls lurking among the masses in Tokyo, carefully stalking their prey”. The story will encompass a time when “Kaneki is still human, the Kirishimas still lived together, and Rize enjoyed her feasts”, according to Viz.
Editor Nick Mamatas says:
Tokyo Ghoul has become an international bestseller with its mysterious flesh eating Ghouls that live in the shadows of the everyday hustle and bustle of Tokyo. The latest novel serves as the perfect complement to the ongoing manga series and continues to explore the lives, backgrounds and dramas of the series’ key characters. We look forward to ardent fans discovering this new release!
Look out for Tokyo Ghoul: Past on its release April 18th, 2017.
