IDW have announced what’s shaping up to be a summer of Disney for them in bringing two new properties to comics that are based on animation–both DuckTales in July and Tangled in August.
Firstly, there’s DuckTales which coincides with and is based on the new animated series being launched by Disney this summer. Featuring Uncle Scrooge, Donald Duck, and Huey, Dewey and Louie, their comic book tales will begin with a #0 issue this July for $3.99.
Then, there’s also Tangled, which will be launched as a series of original graphic novels featuring the characters from the Disney animated series, starting off in August. Tangled: The Series will be subtitled: ‘Adventure is Calling.’ In the graphic novel series Rapunzel will set off on new adventures with Eugene, Pascal, Maximus, and her new friend Cassandra. The collection will feature 72 pages for $9.99.
Building on IDW’s All-Ages Star Wars comics news coming out of Star Wars Celebration, this cinches a new era for the partnership between IDW and Disney. IDW Group Editor Sarah Gaydos said “We’re extremely excited to expand IDW‘s relationship with Disney. There’s a lot of buzz surrounding both of these new animated series and we aim to live up to, and exceed, fan expectations.”
