Mace Windu May Be The Hero We’re Looking For In New Marvel Star Wars Series

by Staff

Marvel have announced a new series this August starring the “one of the Jedi’d greatest warriors”, Mace Windu, in Star Wars: Jedi of The Republic -Mace Windu.

Written by Matt Owens (Elektra) and illustrated by Denys Cowan (Nighthawk, Captain America/Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers), the story will take us inside the life of one of the most famous members of the Jedi High Council, to see where his wisdom and combat skills come from. Marvel are even teasing that we’ll see Mace Windu lead his Jedi into battle.

Writer Matt Owens explains how complex Jedi battle can be:

No matter how well trained for battle the Jedi are, having to actually put those skills to use is another thing entirely. The preferred tools of the Jedi are diplomacy, harmony, education, peace. Now they find themselves leading troops on battlefields across the galaxy. They’re going to have a lot of thoughts about this. Is this really the way to peace? Is this the position I should be taking? Is this really the path the Jedi should be walking down. Doubt is understandable, but what each individual does with that doubt is very telling of who they are and where they will end up.

Owens also teases that we’re going to see familiar characters popping up too, to make the series “organic” to the “tapestry of the Star Wars universe”.

Here’s the order information for the first issue of the 5 part series arriving in August:
