For the first time, BookExpo and BookCon, which are taking place in New York City at the Javits Center this week from May 31st to June 2nd, are going to have Facebook Live streaming, bringing book lovers around the world access to celebrity and author interviews. The BookCon interviews will also be “powered” by Epic Reads, an online community for fans of teen books and YA authors.
If you can’t make it to the show, you can still be part of the largest book convention in the country and and hopefully see your favorite authors online. You’ll even have a chance to participate in the interviews by asking questions via Facebook comments.
Among the many authors and celebrities who will be interviewed live from ReedPOP’s BookExpo and BookCon are: Kwame Alexander, Margaret Atwood, Victoria Aveyard, Matt Bomer, Dan Brown, Cassandra Clare, Cory Doctorow, Jenny Han, John Hodgman, Marie Lu, Danielle Paige, R.J. Palacio, James Patterson, Nicola Yoon, Jason Reynolds, Veronica Roth, Rainbow Rowell, R.L. Stine and many more.
Attendees of BookExpo & BookCon can also take advantage of the livestreamed content. The Facebook Live Lounge will be an onsite studio where live interviews will take place with personalities and talent from both BookExpo (June 1st & 2nd) and BookCon (June 3rd & 4th).
Brien McDonald, Event Director for BookCon & BookExpo at ReedPOP says:
We know that every year there are thousands of people who wish they could be at BookExpo & BookCon, and the Facebook Live Lounge will help us bring them the content they crave right on their own devices. We are leveraging the increasing popularity of livestreaming to provide readers around the world with exclusive live content, so they can be part of the action and spark a global conversation about their favorite authors.
Interviews from BookExpo will be streamed via Facebook at facebook.com/books/ as well as on the Facebook pages of the featured authors.
Interviews from BookCon will be streamed via Facebook Live on the Epic Reads Facebook page – Facebook.com/EpicReads as well as on the Facebook pages of the featured authors.
For those who might not know, BookExpo is North America’s largest gathering of book industry professionals, including publishers, booksellers, librarians, digital content creators, traditional and self-published authors, media, bloggers, rights professionals and movie and television executives. You can learn more about it here.
BookCon, however, is a fan event open to the public through ticketing that allows access to authors, publishers, celebrities and creators of content that influence “everything we read, hear and see”. The programming slate, tickets and more information can be found at TheBookCon.com or BookCon’s social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
