The Reuben Awards Honor Lynda Barry, Rick Geary, Max Sarin & Liz Fleming And Many More

The Reuben Awards were held this weekend in Portland Oregon, distributed by the National Cartoonists Society. The Awards have been running for a very impressive 71 years and present some of the top honors in the industry. Some of those honored this year included Lynda Barry, Rick Geary, and Max Sarin & Liz Fleming.

REUBEN AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CARTOONIST OF THE YEAR

Recipient: Ann Telnaes

MILTON CANIFF LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Recipient: Lynda Barry

The award was presented to Barry by her long-time pal and famed Simpsons creator, Matt Groening.

2017 DIVISIONAL AWARD RESULTS:

FEATURE ANIMATION
Recipient: Cory Loftis

Best Feature Animation went to Cory Loftis for his character design work in Zootopia.

TV ANIMATION
Recipient: Chris Savino

Best TV Animation went to Chris Savino for his work on The Loud House on Nickelodeon.

EDITORIAL CARTOON
Recipient: Mick Luckovich

Best Editorial Cartoonist went to last year’s Reuben Award-winner, Mike Luckovich.

NEWSPAPER COMIC STRIP
Recipient: Steve Kelley and Jeff Parker

Best Newspaper Comic Strip went to Steve Kelley and Jeff Parker for their work in Dustin.

NEWSPAPER ILLUSTRATION
Recipient: David Rowe (Australia)

Best Newspaper Illustrator went to David Rowe for his work in the Australian Financial Review.
