Available now for pre-order, and to be published in 2017, Fantagraphics Studio Edition: Jaime Hernandez is set to contain over 200 pages of raw, unretouched, original artwork in reproduction in 11.25″ x 14.5″, full color, hardback format.
Like Charles Schulz, another influence, Hernandez’s work looks deceptively effortless; like The Art of Peanuts, this book will illuminate his genius.
Fantagraphics Studio Edition: Jaime Hernandez collects almost 200 pages of raw, unretouched original art from select stories in the first fifty issues of the Love and Rockets comic book. These include “The Death of Speedy,” “Chester Square,” and “Wigwam Bam.” This book also traces Jaime Hernandez’ evolution as an artist from his “punk-poster beginnings” to Jack Kirby (Avengers), Steve Ditko (Spider-Man), and Owen Fitzgerald (Dennis the Menace).
