Wizard has announced that Mike Grell has been named the fourth person to be honored by induction into the Wizard World Hall of Legends, to be awarded at Wizard World Comic Con in Chicago on Thursday, August 24th, at 7PM.
The Hall of Legends is “a new initiative to celebrate the artists, writers and insiders who have built the industry and those continue the traditions. Some of Grell’s best known work is The Warlord, Starslayer, Shaman’s Tears, Bar Sinister, and Maggie the Cat. He’s also a veteran of Batman, Iron Man, Green Arrow, Tarzan, and more, and has previously been awarded an Inkpot Award.
Grell recently announced that he will be returning to Green Arrow, celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Longbow Hunters. He will be drawing a dozen variant covers for the series, which is published bi-weekly by DC Comics.
It’s an honor to be inducted into the Wizard World Hall of Legends. My 44 years in the comic industry has allowed me to tell stories and create characters and worlds from pure imagination—I feel as if I’ve hardly worked a day of it.
Grell joins Rob Liefeld, Trina Robbins, and Jeff Smith, as previous Wizard World Hall of Legends honorees.
Chicago show hours are Thursday, August 24, 4-9 p.m.; Friday, August 25, noon-7 p.m.; Saturday, August 26, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, August 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
