Three Reasons Why You Should Be Watching Ozark On Netflix

by Christine Marie Attardo

Netflix continues to impress as they release yet another addicting show to add to your watch-list. Created by Bill Dubuque, Ozark tells the story of Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) who suddenly relocates from a Chicago suburb to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. He has a bunch of debt to pay off to a Mexican drug lord. Laura Linney will play his wife, Wendy.

Here are three reasons why you should be watching the new series…

One: Jason Bateman is awesome. His character, Marty Bird, is clever and amusing to watch. This is the first time I’ve seen Bateman in a super serious role, and he does it well. After three episodes, I’m completely rooting for him.

Two: As Netflix promised, it is reminiscent of Breaking Bad, but it’s certainly not a replication. The plot involves drugs and money laundering, but in a different way. The family isn’t in the dark as much as they were in Breaking Bad.

Three: The small town setting adds a nice touch. While the Bird family is the main focus, there are other characters that add to the whole feel of the show. You start to think about their lives too and how this is going to affect the resort town. Some of the landscapes are stunning!

Overall, I’m really enjoying the series and looking forward to making it to the end of the season. I hope it’s renewed for a second!
