Yep! The rumors are true. In honor of the 25th anniversary of The Nightmare Before Christmas, we are getting a sequel! The Tim Burton hit has been loved by fans for quite some time now branching out into tons of merchandise, most of which is all over my house. Jack Skellington, the movies lead, is an iconic character.
However, this sequel won’t center around Jack and it’s not the type of sequel you would expect. Unfortunately, we aren’t getting a movie, but on the bright side, we are getting a comic!
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
Manga publisher Tokyopop has secured a license for the first-ever Nightmare Before Christmas comic book project that expands the story beyond what was seen in Tim Burton’s beloved 1993 holiday tale. The follow-up, Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero’s Journey, will follow Jack Skellington’s dog, Zero, as he gets lost in Christmas Town…it will initially be serialized as full-color single issues released to comic book stores, before being collected in two different formats simultaneously, in full-color trade paperbacks and black and white “pocket-sized manga” volumes.
Hey, I’ll take whatever I can get. Being a superfan of the Tim Burton classic, I would love to read more about any of the characters. Hopefully Jack and Sally will make an appearance or two. The series will be written by DJ Milky with art from Studio DICE and is currently scheduled for a Spring 2018 release.
