Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Adds Jeff Ward … And The Kree?

by Erik Amaya

With all the upcoming Marvel TV shows like The Defenders, Inhumans, and New Warriors, the original Marvel TV flagship Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  may seem overlooked. But it chugs along as it prepares for its fifth season of double-crosses, high stakes negotiating, and Phil Coulson’s nonchalant coolness in the face of global annihilation.

Deadline reports that Jeff Ward of Lifetime’s Manson’s Lost Girls and Season 2 of Syfy’s Channel Zero anthology series will appear in a multi-episode arc. Details are vague on just who he might play. But with guest characters like Ghost Rider appearing last year, it could be just about anyone outside of an X-Man, Namor or a member of the Fantastic Four.

Maybe he’ll be a Kree.

The Agents Of Shield + Elizabeth H. + Biospecialist Tumblr (via Heroic Hollywood) spotted a video of star Chloe Bennet attempting to do some squats with Natalia Cordova-Buckley before getting called to set. While it’s unclear if Bennet was legitimately trying to work out — she has a habit of posting comedy videos to her Instagram account — the clip offers a glimpse of a blue-skinned Kree in what appears to be a Ravager costume walking past the stage. It occurs roughly twenty-six seconds into the video.

The Kree have created problems for the S.H.I.E.L.D. team in the past. They’re also the reason Bennet’s character Daisy has powers to begin with. Could they return to cause more trouble for Coulson and company in season five?

It could just as easily be a background player in Kree make-up for whatever intergalactic situation the team find themselves in as season five beings. Last season ended with them being abducted by aliens after foiling a LMD’s attempt to bring a HYDRA-led vision of reality to life. The show definitely goes to strange corners of the MCU. Maybe they’ll find some Ravagers there.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns in 2018.
