Shohreh Aghdashloo Joins The Punisher
by Erik Amaya
According to Entertainment Weekly, Shohreh Aghdashloo has joined the cast of Netflix upcoming Marvel series, The Punisher.
She will play Farah Madani, an Iranian-born American psychiatrist and mother of Amber Rose Revah’s Dinah Madani. Dinah, meanwhile, is the Homeland Security assigned to bring in Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) when his activities incur the wrath of the department.
Aghdashloo will be familiar to genre fans as Chrisjen Avasarala on Syfy’s The Expanse, where she dispenses a sort of justice Frank might understand. As EW notes, she also had a small role in X-Men: The Last Stand and received an Oscar nomination for 2003’s The House of Sand and Fog. She’s also a mighty fine actor with a very distinctive voice.
Other members of the cast include Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Frank’s semi-reluctant tech support Micro; Deborah Ann Woll reprising her Daredevil and Defenders role as Karen Page; and Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, Frank’s pal from his Special Forces days with an unfortunate date with destiny.
The Punisher is expected to arrive on Netflix later this year.
