This year’s new annual Batman Day will have something of a different flavour to it with Harley Quinn celebrating her 25th anniversary with a take-down and take-over of Bats’s special day. If anything could get him even more moody, I imagine this could be it.
Here’s what DC Comics are saying about the upcoming festivities:
In honor of Harley Quinn’s 25th Anniversary, DC Entertainment (DCE) announced today new details on the bubbly Super-Villain’s takeover of DC’s annual Batman Day celebration on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Stealing the Caped Crusader’s spotlight, generations of fans will celebrate 25 years of Harley Quinn’s antics with festivities across the country, and around the world.
More than 5,000 libraries, comic shops, bookstores, and other partners worldwide will host “Harley Quinn Batman Day Takeover” activations, including cosplay contests, activities for kids and distributing free copies of three special edition issues.
But, fear not, derailleur bat-lovers, as there’s plenty of room for both to celebrate with a slew of releases to mark the occasion.
Here’s the lowdown on each title:
BATMAN DAY 2017 SPECIAL EDITION #1 includes the first chapter of BATMAN VOL. 3: I AM BANE written by Tom King and illustrated by David Finch, plus an original 3-page Harley Quinn story by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti and Bret Blevins.
HARLEY QUINN BATMAN DAY 2017 SPECIAL EDITION #1 includes the first chapter of the JOKER LOVES HARLEY graphic novel by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti and John Timms.
For young readers, DC SUPER HERO GIRLS BATMAN DAY 2017 SPECIAL EDITION #1, features a sneak preview of the upcoming all-ages original graphic novel, DC SUPER HERO GIRLS: OUT OF THE BOTTLE written by Shea Fontana with art by Marcelo DiChiara and Agnes Garbowska.
Also, starting the week of the 18th September, DC All Access will be taking the time out to host a ‘can’t-miss Batman Week’ spotlighting essential Harley Quinn reads and debuting a ‘25 Years 25 Harleys‘ video tribute.
There’s all sorts of online offers, offline real bricks and mortar store sponsors and a shedload of various merch including DC-inspired Converse sneakers, Hot Topic exclusives and more. Get ready for the Harley Quinn/ Batman Day Takeover this September 23rd.
