Nick Blood To Return To Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

One half of the Marvel’s Most Wanted duo is headed back to S.H.I.E.L.D.

Entertainment Weekly reports that actor Nick Blood will return as Lance Hunter in the fifth season of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Blood first appeared as Hunter in the second season, positioned opposite Adrianne Palicki’s Bobbi Morse. From almost the beginning, there was talk of spinning the two characters off onto their own show. Two years later, the resulting pilot for Marvel’s Most Wanted turned out not to be the show the network was looking for. Palicki and Blood were released from their contracts despite some talk of returning the characters to S.H.I.E.L.D. Palicki soon booked a costarring role on the upcoming FOX comedy The Orville.

It is unclear if Blood’s return to the show will be a long-term thing. It’s also unclear what reunites Hunter with the team; but I think we can assume he and Bobbie are on the outs again. It is their way, after all.

The fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. sees Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team once again on the run from the US Government and, at least for the first few episodes, lost in space. Say, maybe whatever force — presumably Kree — abducted the team also kidnapped Hunter. That could lead to a very funny reunion.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns in 2018.
