Graphic Novel Casts Jazz Legends As Heroes Alongside Their Newly Released Album

by Gary Catig

Two World Famous Jazz Musicians Team Up to Battle a Dark Force Threatening Their City in The One & Twos, a Music Inspired Graphic Novel.

Basin Street Records is a New Orleans based record label that will be celebrating their 20th anniversary by releasing the album, A Beautiful World, from two of their biggest talents, jazz trumpeters Kermit Ruffins and Irvin Mayfield. In addition, they will be publishing and releasing their very first graphic novel, The One & Twos: Kermit, Irvin, and the Golden Record Volume 1, as a companion to the album. The story follows the two musicians as they battle a great dark force in their hometown of New Orleans. The One & Twos is written by British author Amen Neville with art by Henry Lipkis.

Also, if you happen to be in the New Orleans area this Saturday, there will also be a release party at local comic shop Crescent City Comics starting at 5 pm.  At the party, there will be free food, drinks and music provided and artist Lipkis and protagonists Ruffins and Mayfield will be in attendance for signings.

If you are unable to make the release party or live out of town, you can purchase the graphic novel here.  Each graphic novel comes with a download code for A Beautiful World.
