Jenny Slate To Join Sony’s Venom

The cast of Sony’s Venom spinoff continues to expand.

Variety reports Jenny Slate is in talks to appear in the film in an undisclosed role. If the talks are successful, she will join Tom Hardy — set to star as Marvel’s infamous anti-hero — Riz Ahmed, and Michelle Williams. According to earlier reports, Williams will play a New York District Attorney in the film. Jumanji‘s Scott Rosenberg and The Dark Tower‘s Jeff Pinkner are writing the script for director Ruben Fleischer of Zombieland fame.

The film will be separate from the current Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man and may see Hardy’s character happen upon the alien symbiote under very different circumstances.

The project is not the only Spider-Man spinoff on Sony’s schedule. A Black Cat and Silver Sable film entitled Black and Silver is set for release on February 8th, 2019. While both projects are separate from the MCU, they may cross over into each other.

Venom is due in theaters on October 5th, 2018.
