Big Hero 6’s Ryan Potter To Become Titans’ Beast Boy

Ryan Potter is going from Marvel to DC as Titans‘s Beast Boy

Deadline reports the actor will play Garfield Logan, a young man whose treatment for a rare illness gifts him with an incredible power: he can change into the form of any animal. Of course, there is a downside as the serum used to cure him leaves his skin and hair permanently tinted green. In DC Comics lore, Gar would join the Doom Patrol before becoming a permanent member of the Titans West and, later, the New Teen Titans. The character, created by Arnold Drake and Bob Brown, would become more strongly associated with the Titans thanks to Doom Patrol‘s status as a Vertigo title in the 1990s and the Teen Titans animated series in this century. Although the latter did address the Beast Boy’s time with the other team in a memorable episode.

Potter voiced Hiro in the 2014 film Big Hero 6 — based on the Marvel comic book of the same name — and reprises the role in the upcoming DIsney XD animated series, Big Hero 6: The Series.

On Titans, he joins the previously announced Brenton Thwaites of Blue Lagoon: The Awakening, 24: Legacy‘s Anna Diop and Teagan Croft as main Titans Dick Grayson, Starfire and Raven. Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly will also appear as Hawk & Dove, while Lindsey Gort will play Detective Amy Rohrbach.

Titans will debut on DC’s upcoming streaming service in 2018.
