Ralph Dibny Debuts In A Preview Of Next Week’s Flash

by Erik Amaya

It may have taken Ralph Dibny (Hartley Sawyer) four years to find his way to The Flash, but if this preview of next week’s episode is any indication, he’ll be a great foil for Barry and the team. Hopefully, he’ll also become a great friend.

As the preview indicates, Dibny joins the Berlantiverse as a corrupt ex-cop. It also seems that he was on the bus the day Barry returned from the Speed Force and acquired a metahuman power all his own. Of course, a stretchy, elastic body isn’t the most helpful — or budget friendly — of powers, but the Elongated Man was always more than just DC Comics’ other super stretchy guy. Hopefully, some of his detective skills will come into play as he and Barry cross paths.

According to earlier reports, Sawyer will recur in the role with the possibility of the character becoming a full-time member of Team Flash next year. I definitely hope it works out as Ralph Dibny is one of my favorite minor league characters.

Meanwhile, next week’s show will also feature the arrival of Gypsy’s father, Breacher (Danny Trejo), who has no kind words for Cisco. Instead, he decides to hunt our favorite powered sidekick for reasons that are probably quite reasonable on Earth-19.

The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW.
