This week, the first volume of Jim Henson’s The Power Of The Dark Crystal arrives in comic shops as a hardback, and it may be that little bit of a splurge that you should go for. After all, this week is Black Friday, so maybe your local shop is having a sale, as mine is, in trade editions and hardcovers.
Now’s your chance to pick up a series by Simon Spurrier and Kelly and Nichole Matthews, with cover by the great Jae Lee and letters by Jim Campbell that is part of official Dark Crystal canon.
In this comic sequel to the film, years have passed and Jen and Kira have now ruled Thra as King and Queen, bringing Gelfling back to their land. But they are losing their vision of rule. A new young Fireling character, Thurma, is assigned to steal a shard of the Dark Crystal to bring power back to the land. She meets Gelfling Kensho along the way, and accidentally brings back the Skeksis and Mystics. Four issues are contained in this new hardback edition.
