Jodorowsky’s Dune: The Greatest Film Never Made

by Tito W. James

With a new Dune movie directed by Denis Villeneuve being announced, I thought it prudent to examine Alejandro Jodorowsky’s unmade Dune movie. Truth is stranger than fiction and this unmade myth has one of the most mythical production histories I’ve ever encountered. Some ideas are too big, bold and radical for film. Jodorowsky’s Dune spawned modern sci-fi as we know it. It was more epic than Star Wars, more messed up than Alien, and more psychedelic than Lucy.

I hope Villeneuve does Dune justice, but I’ll admit he’s got some galaxy-sized shoes to fill.
