The partnership between Marvel and comiXology is producing a new heavy-hitter in digital exclusive comics in March 2018–Avengers: Back to Basics. If the Avengers team name wasn’t enough to peak fans’ interest, the creative team of Peter David, Brian Level, Juanan Ramirez, Nick Roche, and Chris O’Halloran almost certainly will.
Avengers: Back to Basics is a 6-issue bi-weekly series written by Peter David with art by art by Brian Level on issues #1-2 and #5-6, Juanan Ramirez on issues #3-4, and covers by Nick Roche and Chris O’Halloran.
The series kicks off on March 7, 2018 for $2.99 on comiXology and Kindle as part of the comiXology Originals line and will be available to current subscribers of the comiXology Unlimited service.
New subscribers to comiXology Unlimited will also be able to access it as part of their 30-day free trial. Avengers: Back to Basics joins Black Panther: Long Live The King, The Immortal Iron Fists and Thor Vs. Hulk: Champions of the Universe, as previous Marvel releases, with more series yet to be announced.
But what’s it all about? Avengers: Back to Basics is described as “a terrifying tale of Ragnarok” when an unusual solar eclipse reaches North America. The Avengers uncover that “a new Darkness is coming”, and “a terrible and ancient danger”.
Chip Mosher, comiXology’s Head of Content & Senior Director of Communications. enthuses:
