Woody Harrelson likes his franchise projects.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Wilson and White Men Can’t Jump star is in talks to join Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff Venom. It is unknown who he might be playing, but if talks are successful, he will join star Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott and Michelle Williams. According to earlier reports, Williams will play a New York District Attorney in the film. Jumanji‘s Scott Rosenberg and The Dark Tower‘s Jeff Pinkner are writing the script for director Ruben Fleischer, who directed Harrleson in Zombieland.

The Spider-Man free spinoff is part of Sony’s initiative to create film franchises from the rest of the characters associated with Peter Parker, who is currently part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Besides Venom, the studio is also developing Black and Silver, based on Spider-Man allies Black Cat and Silver Sable and Morbius, The Living Vampire.

Venom opens on October 5th, 2018.
