According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel‘s Runways will return on Hulu for a second season.
Based on the Marvel series created by created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, Runaways follows a group of teenagers as they discover their parents are part of a villainous organization known as Pride. The group’s apparent philanthropic activities mask human sacrifices, shady dealings, and an allegiance to a mystery man named Jonah (Julian McMahon). Despite a number of internal conflicts, the teens band together to learn the truth about Pride and their parents’ wrongdoings. The series stars Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, Ariela Barer, Rhenzy Feliz and Lyrica Okano as the teens while Kevin Weisman, Annie Wersching, Ryan Sands, Angel Parker, Ever Carradine, Brigid Brannagh, Brittany Ishibashi and James Marsters assume the roles the villainous parents.
The series has definitely been a surprise as it mixes teen angst with the discovery of powers and an unexpected emphasis on the parents; even if some have criticized the show for not allowing the characters to run away. It’s also kept pet dinosaur Old Lace under wraps as she is a fairly expensive effect to pull off. Nonetheless, it had a strong debut season — which concludes tomorrow — and will return sometime for a 13-episode second season.
Runaways streams Tuesdays on Hulu.
