Alicia Vikander Is A Survivor In New Tomb Raider Trailer

by Erik Amaya

Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming Tomb Raider and, judging by the new footage, there has never been a more faithful game-to-movie adaptation ever made.

Between Trinity, the look of the island, the bow-and-arrow and the climbing axe, one might almost choose to play the 2011 Tomb Raider reboot game again right now! But if that games lacks for anything — and, honestly, it’s a great game — it is the presence of Alicia Vikander, who takes on the role of Lara Croft and its constant perils. Joining her on this particular quest is Walton Goggins as Mathias Vogel, a slight reinvention of the game’s Father Mathias. While his background may be different — a Trinity goon instead of a cult leader — it seems his goal is the same: harness the power of the island’s legendary Sun Queen Himiko. Well, provided the plot is as faithful as some of the shots in this trailer.

Tomb Raider opens on March 16th.
