A Preview of Next Week’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Threatens Way Too Many Departures

Despite cutting Kasius’s (Dominic Rains) control of the human population off, the heroes of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are still not in safe harbors at the Lighthouse. Instead, Kasius has a few cards left to play; and judging by this preview of next week’s episode, it could be “lights out” for Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) or May (Ming-Na Wen) or maybe even Daisy (Chloe Bennet).

Well, in Daisy’s case, it’s more the threat that she may remain in the future in the hopes that it will prevent the Earth’s destruction. But as Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) will tell you, events are immutable and Daisy will return to the past; even if that means free will is an illusion. I’m not sure if Fitz has thought about that terrifying existential crisis. In fact, Destiny may be the group’s real enemy.

Unless, of course, those vague references to something from space starting the chain of events leading to the planet’s destruction is a vague reference to Thanos. Tying the series back to Marvel Studios films in a direct way would be fairly unexpected at this point.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Fridays on ABC.
