Breaking Bad‘s Michelle MacLaren may finally have found the right comic book film project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, MacLaren will direct Universal’s Cowboy Ninja Viking. Based on the Image Comic by A.J. Lieberman and Riley Rossmo, it tells the tale of a counter-intelligence team which utilizes multiple personality disorder sufferers to fashion operatives known as Triplets. Cowboy Ninja Viking, the deadliest of the program’s operatives, is called in to eliminate a rogue Triplet.
Chris Pratt will star as Cowboy Ninja Viking.
MacLaren nearly directed Wonder Woman before creatives differences saw her part ways with Warner Bros. Pictures. She is also an acclaimed director on series like Breaking Bad, where she also served as an executive producer, and Game of Thrones. She’s also directed episodes of Westworld and The Walking Dead.
Though the project has been in development since 2014, it is on the fast track to a June 28th, 2019 release.
