Black Lightning Castmembers Discuss The Problem Of The 100

by Erik Amaya

On Black Lighting, The 100 gang represents the core of Freeland’s problems. As Cress William, Damon Gupton and China Anne McClain explain in the following video, they are a conglomeration of various Freeland criminal enterprises directed by Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III). And while it is Inspector Henderson’s (Gupton) job to to bring them to justice, Black Lighting (Williams) might be better equipped to handle the task.

Of course, that’s presuming that Tobias really is the head of the snake. His run-in with Lady Eve (Jill Scott) in the most recent episode suggests she may be the real power. Or it could lead from her to somebody else. Executive Producer Salim Akil’s comments earlier in January about wanting to explore the source of drugs and guns on city streets could mean these recognizable comic book baddies will eventually give way to very realistic power players in the underlying corruption of Freeland. A corruption which mirrors plenty of real world communities.

Black Lightning airs Tuesdays on The CW.
