The face of Mama Earp has finally been revealed.
Syfy announced today that Anne of Green Gables star Megan Follows will play Wynonna’s (Melanie Scrofano) mother Michelle in the upcoming third season of Wynonna Earp. Based on the comic book series by Beau Smith and a number of artists, the television series tells the tale of Wyatt Earp’s descendant Wynonna; the reluctant heir of the family’s curse to wipe out 77 revenants before they can kill her. Along for the ride are her (adopted?) sister Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley), the quasi-immortal Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon), researcher Jeremy (Varun Saranga) and fire-breathing ex-federal agent Xavier Dolls (Shamier Anderson).
Developed by Lost Girl verteran Emily Andras, the show found a dedicated following very quickly, leading Syfy to renew the program before its second season completed airing over the summer. In the season finale, Wynonna and Doc said goodbye to their daughter — hidden from them for her protection — while Wynonna left town to chat with her mother. Previously, Michelle was presumed dead by everyone, but it seems Wynonna had some inkling of where to find her. And, presumably, she’ll have some ideas on how to end Bulshar, the demon responsible for the Earp curse.
“Megan Follows is one of Canada’s most beloved and versatile performers, and we are beyond thrilled to have her onboard for such an iconic role,” said Andras in a statement. “Her ferocity and fearlessness will fit in fabulously with the rest of our phenomenal cast.”
Wynonna Earp is currently shooting its third season and will air later this year.
