Pacific Rim IMAX Trailer Focuses On Big Robot (And Big Monster) Spectacle

To many, Pacific Rim: Uprising looks a little too cheesy. To be fair, the trailers released thus far suggest the film is embracing the goofier aspects of the Kaiju movies which inspired the whole enterprise. But for those still on the fence, IMAX has released a special action-oriented trailer for the film which is big on spectacle, Jaegers and the massive new Kaiju making its way into our world.

John Boyega stars as Jake Pentecost. He’s something of a bad boy, but Mako (Rinko Kikuchi) believes he can be the man his father wanted him to be. But in order to whip him into shape, he is put in charge of Jaeger recruit squad whose training may not be enough to help them stave off the return of the giant monsters. Charlie Day and Burn Gorman also return from the original film as the pair of eccentric scientists devoted to studying the Kaiju.

Pacific Rim Uprising opens on March 23rd.
