As part of the lead up to Emerald City Comic Con 2018 next week, publishers have started making announcements (that is, if it’s not announcements to do with Image Expo and ComicsPRO, which are also happening this week!).
Dark Horse have lead that charge by releasing information on their upcoming creator-owned project, Modern Fantasy. Illustrated by Kristen Gudsnuk, whose book Henchgirl, Dark Horse also published last year, and written by Rafer Roberts, whose work you may know from Valiant titles and more, the new series will blend fantasy elements in an irreverent way with aspects of modern life.
Dark Horse says:
Modern Fantasy follows three friends, new to the big city, as they struggle to keep their crappy day jobs and pay off their student loans. A young Ranger woman, her drug-dealing reptilian wizard roommate, and her boisterous Dwarf maiden BFF as they embark on a modern day quest to save the world. The roommates become embroiled in danger when one of their significant other’s finds himself taken by criminals, and the trio must get their $#!& together to save him.
Modern Fantasy #1 (of four) goes on sale on June 27, 2018, and is available for preorder at your local comic shop.
