Superigirl‘s Floriana Lima is going from National City to Marvel’s New York.
Deadline reports the actor is one of three set to join the second season of Marvel’s The Punisher. She will play Krista Dumont, described as a “smart, compassionate, and driven psychotherapist for military veterans.” Which suggests dear old Frank (Jon Bernthal) will still be getting help before something drives him back to being the Punisher.
For a season-and-change, Lima played Maggie Sawyer on The CW’s Supergirl in its second season; leading to a popular storyline with series regular Chyler Leigh and a heartbroken fanbase when Lima announced she would not return to the series except for a handful of season three episodes. The character was written off in a fairly satisfactory manner, though many hope she will return to the series some day.
Other actors joining The Punisher include Josh Stewart as John Pilgrim, a man with a “ruthless interior” who returns to a life of violence when Frank calls upon him, and Giorgia Whigham as Amy Bendix. While Deadline describes the character a grifter with a “mysterious past,” the name may be familiar to readers of Punisher War Zone.
The second season of The Punisher will see Frank continue to come to grips with his PTS while still striking out against criminals in his corner of New York. There is also some evidence that the season will take its cues from Welcome Back, Frank‘s war with the Gnucci crime family; in fact, the syndicate was name checked in the series’ first episode.
The Punisher will return to Netflix sometime in the next year.
