Netflix has announced the second season of Luke Cage will debut on the streaming platform June 22nd via another one of their smart announcement trailers:
Mike Colter returns as the unbreakable hero of Harlem. His newfound reputation means he is more of a target more than ever and a “formidable new foe” emerges from the shadows; forcing Luke to “confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.” He’ll also get a visit from Danny Rand (Finn Jones) and probably emerge from a number of burning buildings along the way. Also, Misty Knight (Simone Missick) returns with a newly made arm and renewed resolve.
Of course, I wonder if the show will correct its one big problem from last season: the mid-point slump. The two-villain concept wasn’t a bad idea on paper, but the execution left plenty to be desired. Then again, I suppose following Mahershala Ali’s Cottonmouth would be an unenviable position for any would-be antagonist. Perhaps the new foe will stick around all season.
