The Team Gets Ready To Defend Coulson And The Planet In A Preview Of Next Week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s 100th episode has aired and two members of the team have made an important choice, it’s time consider the fate of Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). The Kree rejuvenation potion was burned up by Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna) and now Coulson’s body is slowly dying of the original mortal wound inflicted on him by Loki (Tom Hiddleston) all those years ago. But as this preview of next week’s show indicates, the team isn’t ready to let him die; even if Yo-Yo’s (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) future self said to let him shuffle off that MCU coil.

Since the producers are preparing the season finale as a series finale, it is possible Phil will have to make the ultimate sacrifice. That would seem fitting as Marvel Studios heads toward a finale with Avengers: Infinity Wars. And maybe Gregg is ready to move on. But knowing the team, they will stop at nothing to save him; even if death is something Coulson would welcome.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Fridays on ABC.
