Old Enemies Return In A Preview Of Next Week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The gravitonium problem continues as the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. face another batch of their old enemies. While the small amount of the rare material they collected this week would seem to be enough for Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) to contain the rift, the following preview of next week’s episode suggests it will give them more troubles as old enemies like Anton Ivanov (Zach McGowan) reappear and Fitz faces his Framework persona.

Those last moments also look explosive, but you have to assume most of these opponents are fear-projections while the real enemy continues to build its team of almost HYDRA agents, LMDs and the like. Which seems to be the game the previews will playing until Fitz deals with the containment device. Or until his Framework persona takes charge. Or until Thanos shows up. S.H.I.E.L.D.’s endgame is pretty mysterious this year. I even half-jokingly suggested to someone that Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is the Soul Stone only for the idea to have merit shortly thereafter.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Fridays on ABC.
