The Black Hammer Universe Enters The Quantum Age This June

by James Ferguson

Black Hammer from Dark Horse Comics has been a top-notch read from start to finish. Writer Jeff Lemire has expanded it to explore other aspects and characters within this universe with a number of mini-series including Sherlock Frankenstein & The Legion of Evil and Doctor Star & The Kingdom of Lost Tomorrows. This July, Black Hammer heads into the future with The Quantum Age: From the World of Black Hammer.

This six-issue mini-series, illustrated by Wilfredo Torres, colored by Dave Stewart, and lettered by Nate Piekos, takes place a thousand years in the future. It follows a group of superheroes inspired by the legendary heroes of Black Hammer Farm as they band together to save the planet from an authoritarian regime. The Quantum Age focuses on a young Martian as he works to reform The Quantum League and save the world while also solving the riddle of what happened to the great heroes of the twentieth century.

Wilfredo Torres and Christian Ward will provide the futuristic and variant cover for the series. Although the first issue of The Quantum Age won’t be released until July 4th, fans can get a sneak peek of it through Dark Horse’s 2018 Free Comic Book Day Gold Offering in May.
