Comic Artist Mike DeCarlo Launches Funding Appeal For Wife’s Severe Injuries

by Hannah Means Shannon

Over the weekend, word spread that a few weeks ago, well-known comic artist and inker Mike DeCarlo and his family are in a desperate situation. It seems that in late March, DeCarlo’s wife Tracy was struck by an uninsured teen driver while walking as a pedestrian in Oregon, and her injuries were not only severe, but required long-term care.

At the moment, Tracy is in a coma, with hopes of recovery, with several other major injuries, but the biggest challenge they face is having Tracy moved to a hospital closer to her family in Indiana where she can be cared for in a more personal way.

To that end, DeCarlo has appealed through a GoFundMe campaign to raise $9,000 to cover the costs of moving Tracy to Indiana for care.

In reality, the costs of Tracy’s long-term care and hopeful recovery will be fairly astronomical, and as all those who work in comics, know, medical costs are one of the biggest burdens that freelancers can face.

Please consider helping out Mike DeCarlo and Tracy by supporting his campaign. You can hear his words more directly on the campaign page right here.

You’ll find DeCarlo’s comic credits include the Batman: Death in the Family storyline, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Fantastic Four, Looney Tunes, and many more.
