Boom! Studios has announced “Archaia Summer Reading“, a week-long spotlight on their original graphic novel releases in the coming months, and we’re pleased to take part in kicking off that program here on Comicon with an exclusive announcement and preview.
We have an extended first look at Run Wild, an OGN reuniting K.I. Zachopoulos and Vincenzo Balzano, the creators of The Cloud. Described as “a haunting marriage of a chilling vision of the future and unforgettable characters”, Run Wild is a book that moves in the realms of folk tale and modern mythology in a way that will speak to readers on a deep level.
In Run Wild, all of the civilized world begins to turn into animals, and only two young siblings remain as the last humans. They are searching for safety, but are targets for a dangerous environment, all the while wondering what it means to be human as the last of their kind.
Senior Editor Sierra Hahn says:
RUN WILD is above all an adventure story that examines the ties that bonds us as living creatures moving through the world, and the sacrifices we make so that others can truly thrive. Our mission for the Archaia imprint is to create immerse stories that can take us to new worlds, examine life through someone else’s lens, and challenge expectation of what makes a great graphic novel–be it through talking animals in Run Wild, a largely silent sequential romp in About Betty’s Boob, or in Sanpaku a prose-like meditation on the pitfalls of a theoretical illness of the same name.
Here’s our extended preview of Run Wild:
Print copies of Run Wild will be available for sale in July 2018 at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one), bookstores or at the Boom! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the Boom! Studios app.
