The second season of Star Trek: Discovery has begun filming. To celebrate the occasion, the program’s Twitter account posted a new behind-the-scenes video with a few looks at various sets and a Discovery style update to a rather classic uniform design.

And right around the 46 second mark comes a brief glimpse of Anson Mount as Enterprise captain Christopher Pike. But who is that standing next to him? Judging by the blue science division uniform, it must be Spock. But considering Discovery takes place ten years prior to the events of the original Star Trek, can he already be Pike’s first officer?
The second season of Discovery will pick up from where the first left off: with the U.S.S Discovery responding to a distress call from the Enterprise. The knowing glances of Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Sarek (James Frain) in the finale’s final moments suggest their difficult relationships extends to Spock; whose enlistment in Starfleet was opposed by Sarek. Meanwhile, Section 31, the black bag special mission force of the Federation, will marshal its forces — and add former Terran Emperor Philippa Georgiou to its ranks — for some unknown purpose.
Star Trek: Discovery will return to CBS All Access soon.
