IDW To Publish Big Hero 6 Comics This Summer

by James Ferguson

See if you can follow this one with me. Big Hero 6 was a Marvel comic, then adapted into a Disney animated movie, then adapted into a Disney Channel animated series debuting in June. In July, IDW Publishing will begin an ongoing series based on the TV show. So that’s a comic based on a show, based on a movie, based on another comic. In any case, I’m excited for this. More Big Hero 6 is always a good thing.

Big Hero 6 The Series follows Hiro, Wasabi, Fred, Go Go, Honey Lemon, and Baymax as they protect the city of San Fransokyo. Hannah Blumenreich will be writing the series.  The debut issue is illustrated by Nicoletta Baldari and will feature covers by Gurihiru and Sophie Campbell.

Editor Joe Hughes says:

Big Hero 6 The Series features an amazing cast of characters. I couldn’t love them more, and I couldn’t be happier to be working on this book.

Writer Hannah Blumenreich adds:

I am so excited to write this comic series. I know these characters are near and dear to a lot of people and I hope to do right by them.

I’m a big fan of Blumenreich’s work and I love Big Hero 6, so this is a great match for me.   Look for the first issue this July.  Big Hero 6 The Series debuts on Saturday, June 9th on Disney Channel.
