Boom! Studios has been sharing sneak previews of some upcoming titles from its imprint Boom! Box, showcasing some of the publisher’s best YA comic books and graphic novels. What better way to conclude this journey than with a look at the next issue of Giant Days? You don’t have to look far to find my love for this series. It’s easily one of the best on the stands right now and it’s been building to a big confrontation of emotions.
Giant Days #40, written by John Allison and illustrated by returning series artist Max Sarin, picks up with Ed Gemmel returning to Sheffield after a summer spent at home healing broken bones…and his heart. When he was last in town, he went on a bar crawl with Esther which ended with him confessing his love for her before falling off a wall and breaking both his ankles. Esther tries her best to welcome him back, but neither of them have forgotten the events of that night. How much worse could it get…right?
Shannon Watters, Senior Editor, Boom! Studios says:
If you’re a Giant Days fan, you’ll want to pick up this issue. The series hits the #40 milestone with a big issue, featuring the repair of broken hearts…and broken bones. 2018 is shaping up to be the biggest year in this series’ history, from the recent Eisner Award nomination, to the debut of a Giant Days middle grade novel from Abrams.
Giant Days #40 looks to be a calamity of epic proportions and I can’t wait to see how all these emotions come together. You can find the issue at your local comic shop or digitally through ComiXology and Amazon Kindle on July 4th, 2018.
