After months of silence, movement begins on Star Wars: Episode IX.
Variety reports Keri Russell of The Americans is in early talks to join the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX. Reportedly, the part calls for “action-heavy fight scenes.” Russell is a veteran of director J.J. Abrams style of action, having appeared in his Mission: Impossible III. She also became known for action work on The Americans and films like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Little else is known about the role, but some are already speculating. This is Star Wars, after all.
Production on the ninth film in the Star Wars saga is expected to begin at the end of month. Originally set to be directed by Jurassic World‘s Colin Trevorrow, Abrams returned when Lucasfilm and Trevorrow parted ways over creative differences. Since late last year, Abrams and writer Lawrence Kasdan have been hashing out a new conclusion to the sequel trilogy.
Star Wars: Episode IX opens on December 20th, 2019.
