R.L. Stine Creates New YA Graphic Novel Series At Boom! Studios

by Hannah Means Shannon

Boom! Studios has been making a lot of interesting announcements lately, but the biggest has undoubtedly been the news that they’ve entered into a partnership with R.L. Stine, the award-winning, bestselling horror author and creator of Goosebumps and Fear Street.

His multi-book deal with Boom! Studios will result in bringing “new concepts to the comic book medium for the first time”, and a total of four “middle grade supernatural horror original graphic novels” are on the way.

You may recall that Stine has previously written comics for Marvel, including a series of Man-Thing, and that Goosebumps comics are currently being published at IDW, but this is direct and new creator owned work in the form of a series of graphic novels from the looks of it.

The first original graphic novel in this series from R.L. Stine and Boom! Studios, released through the company’s middle grade imprint KaBoom!, will be available in Fall 2019.

R.L. Stine says:

I’m so lucky to have been able to scare so many generations of kids. Now I feel lucky to be going just beyond Goosebumps to a whole new medium of fright and chilling laughs. I’m hoping that Boom! is the sound of an explosion of fun in a whole new world for me.

Bryce Carlson, VP of Editorial & Creative Strategy comments:

As a lifelong fan of R.L. Stine, I couldn’t be more excited to see him scare a whole new generation with a series of original horror graphic novels at BOOM! Studios. His work changed my life as a reader and I can’t wait for today’s young readers to share that experience as R.L. Stine takes the graphic novel format and sends everyone just beyond the limits of their imaginations…
