Assuming the throne of Comic-Con International: San Diego, Jason Momoa took to the Hall H stage with all the pomp and fanfare reserved for a king. But as the first trailer for December’s Aquaman reveals, Arthur Curry (Momoa) has a long way to go before he can become the King of the Seas.

During the cast’s brief appearance, director James Wan said the film may be more of a sci-fi fantasy picture than a traditional superhero movie. From the trailer, that certainly seems to be the case.

Aquaman opens on December 21st.
