SDCC 2018: Godzilla Becomes King of the Monsters In New Sequel Trailer

The King of All Monsters returns in next year’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and various members of the cast — including Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. — appeared at Comic-Con International: San Diego on Saturday to unveil the first trailer for the new Kaiju clash.

This time, Godzilla faces Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah in a world ruined by the titanic creatures, but director Michael Dougherty suggested there may be a few more “surprises.”

Meanwhile, Monarch continues its presence in the world, but as Farmiga mentioned during the presentation “the cat is out of the bag” in regards to the secrecy they enjoyed in Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island.

The trailer looks epic with Godzilla getting his rightful place in the story and Ghidorah making a special Hollywood entrance. These movies may never be as cheesy as I’d like — I’m quite fond of the brighter, sillier Godzilla flicks — but at least they can be a special event.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters opens on May 31st, 2019.
