SDCC 2018: Wonder Woman 1984 Unveils First Footage

Though Wonder Woman 1984 is only 3 1/2 weeks into production, director Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine brought a brief clip from the film to show an appreciative Comic-Con International: San Diego crowd.

The scene features Diana (Gadot) tacking down two would-be bad guys in a mall food court during the 1980s. She manages to save a girl from the pair, crush their guns, and lasso them with the Truth. The overall effect may remind long-time fans of the late 70s and early 80s Wonder Woman television series. Jenkins said the homage was quite intentional even as the film series continues to find its own way.

“It’s a new chapter,” Gadot added. “A whole new movie.”

But one thing the group would not elude to is the reason behind Pine’s presence in the movie. Is he Steve Trevor? No one would say.

Wonder Woman 1984 opens on November 1st, 2019.
