Venom’s Hunger Grows In New Trailer

Though Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) opens the new Venom trailer with some much needed narration about the character, the real focus is squarely on the symbiote itself. As opposed to the earlier teases and trailers, Venom’s powers are on display; revealing a certain creativity and a not unexpected reliance on CGI. Meanwhile, Dr. Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) expounds on his belief in the symbiotes to save mankind. A belief which will position him to become Venom’s ultimate foe by the end of the picture. Or, at least, that shot of Riot trying to rip Venom off of Eddie suggests as much.

But that “In Association with Marvel” title card is intriguing and definitely a signal Venom is far removed from Spider-Man and the rest of the MCU. In fact, it’s almost as big a signal as the lack of the spider logo on Venom’s chest.

Venom opens on October 5th.
