Ralph Dibney To Do More Detective Work In The Flash’s Fifth Season
by Erik Amaya
Now that Ralph Dibny (Hartley Sawyer) is a permanent part of Team Flash and not a victim of the Thinker, his Season Five antics will see the character returning to one of his core components: detective work.
In the pages of DC Comics, Ralph is private investigator whose skills rival even those of the Batman. And it seems those skills will come in handy this season on the television show. “Ralph is going to be doing a lot more detecting this year than he did last season,” executive producer Todd Helbing told Newsarama recently. Acknowledging Ralph as one of the greatest investigative minds in the DC Universe, he added “We want to get him on his journey in that regard this season.”
Of course, that journey includes his life-long companion Sue Dibny. Introduced shortly after Ralph himself, the pair became a great team and eventually married. As the DCU’s resident Nick and Nora Charles, they found their way into almost every DC comic book until their tragic deaths early in the 21st Century. Not that death really ended their partnership. They were reunited in the spirit realm and ready to solve more mysteries. Granted, all of that was washed away after Flashpoint, but it was a great way to continue their story.
And, hopefully, introducing Sue will also be a priority in the season to come.
The Flash returns October 9th on The CW.
